Michelle Alvis has led successful human resource departments and partnered with other leadership in defining and shaping the values, structure and talent required to achieve the organization's mission. She has met these challenges for the organizations she's worked with while maintaining the highest ethical standards at all times.  

 

Michelle possesses the ability to understand the issues of highly diverse audiences while simultaneously displaying sensitivity to unique needs in the human resource field.  She  will work with your nonprofit or small business to deliver optimized solutions to manage costs and deliver innovative human resources solutions that ultimately lead to optimal organizational success.

Holding a distinguished career for over 27+ years in nonprofits and small businesses, Michelle is here now to help your business design programs and solutions that fit your specific work culture.  As Chief People Officer at two leading national nonprofits, Nonprofits Insurance Alliance and GLAAD, Michelle led significant business transformation initiatives as a member of executive leadership teams and guided human resources efforts focusing on ensuring that the people operations of the organizations aligned with the overall strategic plan.

 

Michelle earned a BS in Criminal Justice Sciences and dual minors in Sociology and Paralegal Studies from Illinois State University and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) Certification through the Human Resources Certification Institute. She is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the Northern California Human Resources Association (NCHRA), Professionals in Human Resources Association (California) (PIHRA), Chicago SHRM, DuPage SHRM Chapter, Illinois Fox Valley SHRM and the Illinois State Council for SHRM .  She has been an HR Instructor at Santa Clara University and a Guest Lecturer at Golden Gate University for their MBA/HR concentration program. Michelle has also conducted numerous trainings and workshops focused on professionalizing the role of human resources in the nonprofit sector and was the featured co-keynote presenter at the 2019 VITA Benefits Symposium.

 

Known for her business acumen and ability to be a trusted business partner, delivering on commitments and creating an environment of continuous improvement is what Michelle does best. 

 Eliza Paul  

 

Eliza Paul, Senior HR Consultant, has spent the entirety of her career working for nonprofit organizations, with a focus in people support and organizational day-to-day operations. A true Senior Generalist, she has helped organizations with a vast variety of projects to broaden, modernize and clarify their internal structures, while backing leaders in constructing a positive and productive work environment where employees felt heard and supported.

Bringing 12+  years of human resources experience to the team, Eliza holds a BA in Fine Arts with a Psychology minor from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Whether your organization needs support in recruitment, benefits administration, payroll software implementation, leaves of absence, a handbook rewrite, or employee relations support, she is ready and able to jump in head first.
